Niagara Parks Power Station
The historic Niagara Parks Power Station is the newest landmark attraction located at the brink of Niagara Falls. The first major power station on the Canadian side of the Niagara River, the former “Canadian Niagara Power Company generating station” harnessed the powerful energy of the Horseshoe Falls and turned it into a great source of electricity for over 100 years.
Now, years after its turbines came to a halt, the wonder of this hydropower pioneer is coming back to life in an entertaining and educational experience that highlights both the remarkable history and unique architectural features of this marvel of engineering and architecture.
At night, Currents: Niagara’s Power Transformed, an interactive sound and light experience brings the Niagara Parks Power Station to life with captivating visuals and a breathtaking musical score. Produced by the creative minds at Thinkwell Studio Montreal, this riveting adventure will trigger your senses as you become part of the transformation of water to energy and feel the power station awaken through playful interactive media.
Acting as a subcontractor to Solotech who supplied and integrated all the experience’s AV equipment, JOEL supplied and installed blackout drapes and tracks over the massive and numerous windows that run the length of the power station to block out light for the earlier performances.
