Currents Niagara Power Station

Niagara Falls, ONTARIO
2019
A tribute to Canadian expertise

The historic Niagara Parks Power Station is the most recent addition to the list of notable landmarks that can be seen on the edge of Niagara Falls. The old "Canadian Niagara Power Company generating station" was the first large power station on the Canadian side of the Niagara River. It could harness the immense energy of the Horseshoe Falls and transformed it into a huge source of electricity for more than a century.

Many years after its turbines came to a stop, the marvel of this hydropower pioneer is being brought back to life in an experience that is both entertaining and educational. This experience highlights both the remarkable history and the distinctive architectural features of this engineering and architectural marvel.

A Multimedia Show you'll never forget!

An interactive sound and light event called Currents: Niagara's Power Transformed, brings the Niagara Parks Power Station to life at night with mesmerizing sights and a magnificent musical backdrop. This exciting journey, which was produced by the imaginative minds of Thinkwell Studio Montreal, will excite your senses as you take part in the transformation of water into energy and experience the power station coming to life via the use of engaging interactive media.

SHOWSDT acting as a subcontractor to Solotech, which provided and integrated all of the experience's AV equipment, provided blackout drapes and tracks to be installed over the massive and numerous windows that run the length of the power station to block out light for the earlier performances.
