Usine C is a multidisciplinary and historic industrial-style theatre venue with two performance spaces. The project at Usine C is very interesting, because SHOWSDT mandate was to update the rigging and control system while reusing all of the elements that were still operational and useful for the multifunctional space.
We inspected the entire venue to identify the deficiencies to be adjusted, to make the space even safer. We worked in collaboration with consultant Mario Brien and the project management firm LEM Experts-Conseils and we developed a renovation plan that allowed a modernization of the systems, but while respecting a budget acceptable for the client.
There were a lot of improvements done, but here are the main ones: Replacement of all cables for all the winches and hardware and several custom-made mechanical modifications, including the rigging points for the battens. Complete replacement of the control system with a custom-made RAYNOK IMPERIUM system, specific to the customer’s needs.
This includes the complete replacement of the components of the electrical cabinet (control and electrical level). And finally, the supply and installation of the truss and custom-made steel access stairs.
