SHOWSDT La Caserne – stage carriers and rigging

New identity for Les Gros Becs Théâtre jeunesse

La Caserne – scène jeune public, the new home for Théâtre jeunesse Les Gros Becs, now occupies the Dalhousie Barracks, a heritage building in Old Quebec that has been completely redesigned for the presentation of performing arts for ages 0–17. With a 330-seat auditorium, a multipurpose studio, and cultural mediation spaces, the venue has become a hub dedicated to creation, accessibility, and artistic awareness for young audiences.

SHOWSDT designed and integrated a complete stage hosting system with drapes adapted to different stage configurations. The installation includes all the manual carriers, their hardware, and the rails necessary for the smooth movement of suspended elements, a structure designed to facilitate technical maneuvers and ensure safe and sustainable use.

The stage curtains, including the royal blue main stage curtain, were custom-made in addition to the 360° studio covering curtains. The entire ensemble was selected to offer opacity, texture, and versatility suited to the needs of shows for young audiences, while respecting the venue’s visual signature.

This project provides La Caserne – scène jeune public with a modern and flexible infrastructure that effectively supports the diversity of productions hosted and offers technical teams a clear, organized and efficient working environment that is perfectly integrated into the building's architecture.
