Opened in 1932, the Palais Montcalm is in the heart of the Old Quebec and is an important part of the social, artistic and cultural life of Quebec City. It has the mission to develop and promote regional, national and international classical musical throughout its installations.
In 2007, we were hired to synchronise 6 hoists with a capacity of more than 6000KG to move the impressive 25 ton canopy used for sound deflection. There is also a custom-made truss around the canopy controlled by 5 hoists with each 1000 kg capacity.
In 2023, a complete upgrade was carried out. The integration of a Raynok system modernized the control interface. All motor frequency converters were replaced and configured in a closed loop. In addition, all PLCs and the control cabinet were replaced. The system now operates using the G2 controller.
In 2025, twenty 1,000 kg Tour Rg motors were added and integrated into the existing system. This new equipment, controlled by Micro+G2 console, expands the operational possibilities and enhances the flexibility of the Palais Montcalm to host a variety of productions. This upgrade not only provides increased power, but also technological consistency with the already modernized control systems.
This type of control was a world premiere.
